Foiliage of Life

This garment was designed for my application to University. It is made from carboard, ink and paint. The design is inspired by the idea of life and nature. Originating from just the idea of a leaf. Here you can see my initial sketches of a few garments. Among them is my first version of "The Foiliage of Life" garment.

Here is another set of garment sketches. Among them is my second version of the garment as well as the third. These illistrations show the development and varients of the garment I have considered. Although none of the other sketches were developed into garments they still greatly helped improve my design skills and hone in on the design I wanted to build most.

This is my final design for the garment I made using a different style. Here I used acryllic inks to create a brief outline of the dress.

These are the leaves I created for the garment. They were crafted from card and painted with acrylic paints (and inks with more detailed leaves). The leaves were folded precisely to create a 3D effect.

However, I first tried just coloured card however it lacked texture compared to the leaves painted with acryllic inks and paints.

This is the final garment from the back view. Here you can see the converging point where all the leaves on the dress lead to.

This is the final garment from the front view. Here you can see how the leaves are arranged to create a flowing effect. The dress is designed to mimic the natural flow of leaves in the wind, symbolizing life and nature. You can also see how it's been molded to the shape of the human body.
